Erciyes University, Graduate School of Educational Sciences was established on February 26, 2010. The Graduate School of Educational Sciences is dedicated to producing scholarship that is relavant and rigorous. The school is currently offering MA, PhD and pedagogical formation studies to 413 students through five MA programmes, two PhD programmes and pedagogical formation programmes in secondary school level.  While MA programmes include Social Studies Education, Science Education, Turkish Language Education, Maths Education and Curriculum and Teaching, PhD programmes include Turkish Language Education and Science Education.

General Admission Requirements

Candidates who want   to apply to MA. MSc.   (ThesisNon-Thesis) degrees must be graduated from a four year undergraduate program.  To be able to apply to the programs, candidates must hold the following grades.

a.    ALES:55

b.    Bachelor’s Degree average: 55/100 or 2(CC)

c.     (Optional) UDS or KPDS (no score is required)

Those these scores can apply to the related programs. Then, they are invited to the Oral Exam conducted by the related committee assigned.

The students are elected according to the following calculation: 50 % of ALES score, 15% of Bachelor’s Diploma score, 15% Foreign Language,20% Oral Exam.


a.    When the programmes do  not require Oral Exam the calculation of the grades  changes as follows: 60 % of ALES score, 20% of Bachelor’s Diploma score, 20% Foreign Language

b.    Some programmes may hold special requirements.

General Arrangements for the Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, informalnon-formal)

The candidates who have prior learning should hold the requirements determined by Erciyes University Graduate School of Education Sciences in order to continue their education.

General Registration Procedures

The students who hold the criteria required by the related programmes are electedranked by the committee in accordance with the scores specified in the General Admission Requirements  Then, the documents required for registration are announced in the website of the Graduate School of Educational Sciences.

ECTS Credit allocation based on the student workload in order to achieve expected learning outcomes are specifically indicated in the syllabus of each course of the related programmes.

Arrangements for Academic Guidance

Erciyes University provides one type of guidance to its students. Each new coming student is provided with an academic contact within programmes the students have enrolled. The contact point is in essence academic advisors for students. They are available to the students throughout the program for discussion, brain storming, advice, etc. Every faculty member has a number   of student advisees,their activities in counseling include the following:

  • Checking the student’s registrations for courses at the beginning of each semester based on their academic success to make sure that they will have no difficulty in following the courses they have already enrolled.  

  • Advising the student which courses to which ones to leave behind or drop while registering for any new semester, if the student has failed courses in the previous term.

  • Being available by appointment as a resource to discuss educational related issues, problems solutions.
